The CIC created a lot of buzz with her extraordinary version of Paranoid, mixed by legendary Pantera producer/engineer Sterling Winfield (Pantera, Hatebreed, Hellyeah), who says this about her:
"I am always looking for something new and different to work on, but I have to say that when the unique talents of "The Commander In Chief" crossed my desk a few months ago, I was blown away!
This was definitely new and different!
In my twenty plus years as a producer and engineer I can honestly say that I have never seen or heard anything like what she has to offer.
Killer guitar driven progressive hard rock, along with an unbelievable over the top vocal style, with just enough pop added so that it can be accessible to all".
The release of her version of Paranoid at the end of August 2011 was covered in Revolver Magazine, Blabbermouth, Classic Rock Magazine, NME, in addition to 100+ smaller sites and magazines online around the world. It was nominated as Best Metal Song 2011 by Hollywood Music in Media Awards.
The CIC recorded the first five songs for her debut album in December 2011, produced by S.Winfield. The first two songs will be released as a maxi single on February 15th 2012.
She started to play guitar in 2005. Three years later, as a senior in High School, living in Chicago, she signed with Elisabeth Hagen as her fulltime manager and "The Commander In Chief" was born. She designed her own stage outfit and later had it tailor made in Los Angeles.
With the start of her Myspace page in June 2008, she got her first die hard fans with the Demo version of her song "Battle for the Mind" (recorded with Grammy nominated producer Paul Richmond). She also made an animated music video and artwork for the song.
Since 2008 The CIC has studied old school Italian Bel Canto technique with daily singing lessons. Her 4 octaves vocal range includes a very unique supersonic register, in which she can sing full voice all the way up to A6.
In December 2008/January 2009 she recorded her first Demo EP "State of the Union 2009" which gave her the first radio plays on independent rock and metal radios. It also got her the first raving reviews from radio DJs, with one saying "this is the music this decade has long been waiting for!" (Mike Mitchell, bcb Radio).
The EP was never released but a limited number was available for her fans and it was streamed on her Myspace.
She continued to work hard on her songwriting and guitar technique, while also taking daily singing lessons and doing gigs in the first half of 2009.
World class drummer Hanns Menacho, who played with her on her very first gig as The Commander In Chief in London, was brought in fulltime from September 1st 2009 and joined The Chief and her manager in Los Angeles. The three of them almost secluded themselves from the outside world for a year and worked fulltime on artist development and songwriting. They also got some valuable advice from producer German Villacorta, who is a friend of them all, during this time.
During the stay in Los Angeles she recorded the 6 song Demo "Battle for the Mind". It received glowing reviews from numerous radio owners/DJs around the world and online reviewers, with Metalbuzz.net calling it one of the best releases in 2010. Despite the glowing reviews she decided to not release the Demo EP since she was not satisfied with the production and mix. A limited number was again available for her fans and they sold out. Some of the songs were streamed on her sites and she was number 5 on Reverbnations Metal Chart for Los Angeles, as the only unsigned artist (after Slayer, etc)
From 2010 she has taken lessons with 7 string guitar virtuoso Ramon Ortiz (Puya, Ankla) who is her guitar mentor. They met in Los Angeles. She credits him with her remarkable and fast progress as a lead guitarist. Her technical and challenging riffs as a rhythm guitarist is one of her trademarks, in addition to her innovative, heavy and catchy songwriting skills.
The CIC writes songs about current issues in society. She has a global perspective, having lived in many countries, speaking four languages.
